PLR stands for “Private Label Rights.” When people talk about PLR they are usually referring to written content, such as articles, ebooks, social media posts, etc. But PLR can apply to just about any content, including website themes and plugins, sales and download pages, software, memes and other images, forms and more.
PLR may also be called white label or done-for-you content. No matter what it is or what it is called, it can save you a lot of time and effort. Here’s an example of how it works:
Under a typical PLR license what could you, the buyer, do with the PLR ebook and articles you just bought? You could use the articles as posts on your blog or social media to promote the ebook. You could add them to the ebook. You could put them together and create another ebook. The ebook could be a bonus you give away when someone joins your list or when they buy a product from you. You could sell the ebook from your website or other places. (You can’t sell it on Amazon, though. They don’t allow authors to publish PLR content as Kindle or paperback books.) I will talk about lots of other ways to use PLR in an upcoming post.
You may be wondering about the other 99 people in our hypothetical example who bought the same PLR package. Is it wise to publish exactly the same ebook and blog posts as 99 other people? Probably not. But here is the cool thing about PLR: It is easy to modify it and make it very different from the versions offered by all of those other people, without completely rewriting it. What I usually do is take out anything that i don’t want to include (e.g., an opinion I don’t share or a technique I don’t like), add some personal stories from my experience, change a bit of the wording to put my voice into it, and add my own graphics. It takes so much less effort that starting with a blank page and writing the whole thing!
One other thing about those other 99 buyers: Many of them will not publish the PLR they bought. Maybe they bought it for a future project and never get around to that project. Maybe they are PLR hoarders who buy everything they see and use a tiny fraction of it. In many cases they may be people who buy PLR to learn from it themselves. After all, if we buy PLR to teach our tribe, then we can certainly buy PLR packages that we want to learn from, right? And, of course, many of those who buy PLR modify it as I described, so it is not apparent that they are using the same PLR content you are.
Using PLR can save you time and money and it can MAKE money for you. Have you been struggling for months (years?) to create a product? Do you find it hard to come with ideas for posts to your blog and social media or articles for a newsletter? Are you unsure how to set up a sales funnel? PLR can help with all of those things and more.
There are a lot of great PLR creators out there, but it can take a lot of time and money to figure out who and where they are. That’s where I come in.
